The
Inn at Robert’s Grove, Belize.
In 2001, we took over the management
of The Inn at Robert's Grove in Belize.
When we arrived after a 17 day
road trip from Vancouver, Canada, we were not prepared to find
the resort we had accepted to run a shambles, but, thanks to Hurricane
Iris, it was a mess! Sailboats were fifteen feet up in the trees,
the pools were filled to the brim with sand, all the air-conditioning
units were toast from water damage. There was over $300,000 damage
which we had to repair while taking over the manageent of the resort.
Three years
later when we decided to leave Belize, we had successfully reconstructed
the entire resort, built a first class Dive
Operation and Marina,
a Mexican Restaurant, Fitness Club, Gift Shop, Internet Room, Spa
and Conference Facility, a new pool, 16 additional condos, sold
over 1.5 million dollars of managed condominiums and maintained
a 65% occupancy rate.
In short, we had resurrected
an operation that could have floundered for months. With our expertise,
it stayed open, fully operational and popular.
We
were named the Top
Five Star Resort Managers in Belize the next
year.
The following pages contain a
few images of the resort as we rebuilt it.
